William "Willie" Nathan Scarbor

Mr. William “Willie” Nathan Scarbor, 93, of Omega, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2020 in Omega Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Mullis officiating. A Eulogy will be given by Chad Scarbor and Rebecca Kincaid. The interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Joey Scarbor, Chad Scarbor, Brad Scarbor, Pate Kincaid, Zack Scarbor and Michael Harrison will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Omega Baptist Church along with Tommy Lindsey, Ronnie Jones, Larry Jones and Sidney Holton.

Mr. Scarbor was born March 31, 1926 in Tift County to the late R. E. “Red” Scarbor and Laura King Scarbor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Syble Virginia Pearce Scarbor to whom he was married for sixty-seven years at her death in September 3, 2012, also his son, Ricky Scarbor who died in November, 2010 and his grandson, Stan Scarbor who died in April, 1989. Mr. Scarbor was the owner of Scarbor and Sons Farms and part owner of Omega Contracting Company, Inc., which built roads and cleared land. He was a member of Omega Baptist Church and was a veteran of The United States Army serving during World War II. He had lived all of his life in Tift County. Mr. Willie was very active in his church where he served as Sunday School Director, Chairman of the Deacons, Church Treasurer and Deacon Emeritus. He started out early in his life with one tractor then later acquired a bulldozer and began working on ponds, clearing land then later road construction. In the early 1970’s he started Scarbor and Sons Farms, growers and packers of sweet potatoes. He and Miss Virginia were very close and Mr. Willie’s family was his greatest love. He always enjoyed meeting with and talking to his friends around Omega. He enjoyed fishing in his family ponds. He was most happy on his farm working hard. Mr. Willie was best known for growing sweet potatoes, which he many times gave away to his friends and neighbors.

Mr. Scarbor is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Regena Scarbor of Omega; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Marcus Evans of Omega; his grandchildren, Joe and Sabrina Scarbor, Chad and Kelly Scarbor, Brad and Liza Scarbor, Jennifer and Craig Smith, Pate and Rebecca Kincaid, Megan Scarbor and Michael and Jessica Harrison; fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
