Richard "Rick" Robert Buckley, Jr.

Mr. Richard “Rick” Robert Buckley, Jr., 65, of Tifton passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with the Rev. T. J. Maudlin officiating.  The interment will follow in the Rutland Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Justin Sheppard, Al Janelle, Steven Goldman, Chase Goldman, Jacob Hall, Dale Hall, Buck Buckley, Korey Keeter, Austin Harris and Mack Branch will serve as pallbearers.  Mr. Bill Sexton long time friend will serve as his honorary pallbearer.

Rick was born June 24, 1958 in Athens, Georgia to Myra Rutland Buckley and the late Judge Richard Robert “Dick” Buckley, Sr. He graduated in 1976 from Tift County High School.  After graduating from UGA with his bachelor’s, he then went onto Woodrow Wilson College of Law, where he graduated and passed at the top of his class. Rick always put God and family first.  He coached little league, took his boys camping, traveling, fishing and to every UGA Football game possible.  He always had a story and was smiling for every occasion.  His grandchildren were his world since 2013. Rick was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton and formerly a member of the Tifton Sertoma Club.

Along with his Mother, he is survived by his three sons and their families, Richard “Rob”. Robert Buckley, III, and his wife Danielle of Tifton, Ross Buckley of Tifton and Ryan Buckley and his wife Abby of Tifton, his three grandchildren, Richard “Buck” Robert Buckley IV, Riley Buckley, and Hattie Buckley, his four sisters and brothers-in-law, Kris Beyers and her husband, Jim of Tifton, Lisa Janelle and her husband Buster, Susan Goldman and her husband, Lex of Athens, and Jennifer McCall and her husband, Walter of Tifton, the Mother of his children and great friend, Venisha Johnson Buckley of Tifton and many nieces and nephews.
