Mr. Ricardo Martinez Cortez, 67, of Tifton passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Friday June 4, 2021 at 3:30 P.M. in Omega City Cemetery with Rev. Mr. Eric Windmoller officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, June 4th from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors before the service.
Mr. Ricardo was born April 3, 1954 in Piedras Negras Coahuila, Mexico to the late Alfonso Martinez and Maria Del Consuelo. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Yolanda Martinez and Ernestina Martinez, one brother, Alfonso Martinez Cortez. He was an agricultural worker. Ricardo had lived in Tift County since 1976. In Mexico he was a superstar baseball player and won many awards. He was an excellent provider and a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Mr. Ricardo was a humble and giving man and always respected others. He always wanted the best for his family and wanted them to be happy. He loved baseball, boxing and was a lover of animals, especially his dog “Rocco”.
Mr. Ricardo is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Irma Martinez of Tifton; one son, Ricky Martinez and his fiancé, Winter Byrd of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Irma and Luis Cifuentes of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Pedro Manuel Medrano, Jr., Raymon Medrano, Nickolas Medrano, Priscilla Martinez, Selena Cifuentes, Adriana Medrano and Rohali Corona Aguirre Medrano; three brothers, Hector Martinez, Guadalupe Martinez and Enrique Martinez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
