Oreita "Reita" (Smith) Chappell

Mrs. Oreita “Reita” Smith Chappell, 95, of Tifton passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Chappell officiating. The family will greet friends after the service at the graveside.

Carvis Chappell, Nate Chappell, Billy Chappell, Andy Hall, Ricky Simmons and Greg Chappell will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Chappell was born April 20, 1928 in Turner County to the late John Franklin Smith and Dollie Hood Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Royce Chappell who died August 26, 2008, her son Ronnie Chappell, her sisters, Allene Davis and Neita Simmons and her brother Charlie Smith. Mrs. Chappell was a woman of great faith of the Church of God. She loved cooking, shopping, dressing up nice and listening to the Gaither’s singing. During her husband’s U.S. Air Force military career, she enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States and abroad. She loved the Lord with all her heart.

Mrs. Chappell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Rodney and De Chappell of Fitzgerald; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Tim Boyer of Gainesville; her daughter-in-law, Sue Chappell of Lakeland, Florida; her grandchildren, Shawna Leanne Matolyak, Kaylie Elyse Abney, Nathan S. Chappell; her great grandchildren, Elijah Lee Matolyak, Micah Levi Matolyak, Ezra Lee Abney and Eliza Mae Abney.
