Maura Hernandez

January 20, 1927 — September 28, 2020

Tifton, Georgia

Mrs. Maura Hernandez, 93, of Tifton, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hernandez was the first born to Pantaleon Ferrel (Zacatecas, Mexico) and Cleotilde Landeros (Mapimi, Mexico) in Gomez Palacio (Durango, Mexico) on January 20, 1927. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Elias Hernandez Caldera. Maura was a homemaker. She worked hard along with her husband to make sure her children got the best education possible. She loved reading the Bible, singing in the choir and helping people. She made new friends easily and always had time to listen and help whoever needed her. She grew up in Gomez Palacio and then spent ten years at Puerto Palomas (Chihuahua). Maura spent lots of time caring for her grandchildren and their education when a crisis arose or she was needed. She was very supportive of her children and grandchildren’s musical studies and almost all of them play a musical instrument or sing. She always trusted in the Lord and was the spiritual pillar of the family. She will be missed by family and friends. Rest in peace, Señora Hernandez (Ferrel).

Mrs. Hernandez spent the last two ½ years at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation and the family members want to extend their gratitude for the special care and love they showed her.

Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her children: Filiberto Abundio Hernandez  (Soledad Arteaga), Salvador Hernandez (Dara) Ferrel, Joshua Daniel Hernandez (Juanita Blanton) and her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren in California.
Her grandchildren are Saul Antonio (Megan Kuhn) and Ahmad Salim Hernandez (Jessica Snoots), Pablo Sergio (Guadalupe Ponce) and Juan Salvador Hernandez; Sara (Scott), Rebekah (Huddy Fuller), Jonathan Hernandez (Katrina Stephens) and Aaron Hernandez; Abiel (deceased) and Keila Hernandez. Great-grand-children Paula, Vanessa, Juliana Elizabeth and Elias Benedict Fahle.
