Mrs. Mattie Mae Harris Bentley, 87, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in Summers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Wells officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:20 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Mrs. Bentley was born March 16, 1933 in Jefferson County, Florida to the late Aren Benjamin Harris and Inez Herndon Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilbur Bentley, her son, William Mashburn, her daughter, Marylana Mashburn, two sisters, Louise Leggett and Thelma Clark, four brothers, H. B. Harris, Junior Harris, Jerry Harris and Wayne Harris. Mrs. Bentley was a member of Summers Chapel Church in Worth County and was retired from Fitzgerald Underwear after thirty-six years. She had lived most of her life in Tift County. Mrs. Bentley loved all babies especially her grandchildren. Miss Mattie Mae was a woman of faith and loved her church. She was a great cook and her specialties were chicken and dumplings, buttermilk biscuits, peanut butter cake and hoecakes. Her happiest times were spending time with her grandchildren. Miss Mattie Mae was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet.
Mrs. Bentley is survived by two daughters, Linda McDuffie and Jennifer Carter both of Tifton; one son, Aren Wilbur Bentley of Tifton; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas and Wanda Harris and Ted Harris of Tifton and her sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and A. J. Roberts of Ashburn.
