Maria Raquel Lara (Martinez) DeZapata

Mrs. Maria Raquel Lara De Zapata, 65, of Omega, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday in Omega Cemetery with Father Alfonso Gutierrez officiating, with a Eulogy given by her granddaughter, Katherine Torrez.

Mrs. Zapata was born December 8, 1954 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Elvira Martinez Rodriguez and the late Carlos Sylvestre Lara Velasquez. Mrs. De Zapata attended Our Divine Savior Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and singing. Raquel loved her cats. She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Zapata is survived by her husband, Isidro Zapata, to whom she was married for forty-six years; her daughter and her husband, Caricia Raquel and Jose Luis Sandoval; her son and his wife, Luis Rodrigo Fabian and Celest Zapata; her brother, Jose Luiz Lara; her sisters, Irma Lara, Martha Lara, Aurora Lara, Patricia Lara, Ana Cecilia Lara and Maria Del Rosario Lara; her grandchildren, Cristian, David, Damion, Nubia, Kristiana, Ariel, Melani, Raelynn and Katherine Torrez; also many nieces and nephews.
