Obituary

Lynn Hardwick Chambliss Dixon peacefully entered in to rest on May 1st, 2023, with her devoted daughter by her side. A recording of her beloved grandson played as she took her last breath, saying “I love you Grammie”.

Born on September 1, the first born to the late Dr. Douglas Hardwick & Mrs Louise Kelly Hardwick, of Tifton, GA, in Decatur, Alabama. A native of Tifton, Georgia, she resided in Greensboro, Georgia for the last years of her life. Lynn was a member of the Lake Oconee Church of Christ and made many wonderful friends in her church family.

She is preceeded in death by husbands George Mitchell Chambliss and Dr. Sammie Daniels Dixon, her brother Larry Hardwick and son-in-law, Kyle Andrew.

She is survived by her only daughter, Jordan Kelly Chambliss, who will always remember her beauty, sense of humor and glamorous style, and will always miss her laugh and her sass, her beloved 3 year old grandson, Barrett Gray Chambliss, who he lovingly called "Grammie", her brother and sister in law, John and Jan Hardwick, and sister Carolyn Neisielowski.

Lynn was a graduate of the University of Georgia and went on to become the leading force of International Tourism for the State of Georgia, where her crowning achievement was spearheading a project to increase interest in Japanese tourism to Atlanta. She worked alongside the VP of Japan Airlines and was a passenger on the first direct flight from Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport to Tokyo, Japan.

She was an avid traveler, talented artist and loving mother. She had a close group of friends that she loved dearly. The biggest love of her life was her grandson, Barrett Gray Chambliss, for whom she fought the most difficult battle of her life without fear. Her determination to win the battle against leukemia was driven solely for the hope of being able to watch her grandson grow up.

While she endured a long battle with APL, a rare form of leukemia, she would not want this to define her. Her shoe collection, strength and determination were extraordinary. Her will to live was a force to be reckoned with. She continued to overcome hurdles that astonished her physicians, and never wavered in her willpower to keep fighting for Barrett.

The doctors and nurses at Augusta University Health all had a special place in their hearts for Lynn, she was adored by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Vamsi Kota, M.D. for never giving up on her, and all the wonderful caring nurses on the Hematology/Oncology Floor of Augusta University Health.

A memorial service will be held for her friends and church family in Greensboro on June 2nd at 3pm, and graveside service on June 3rd at 3pm in Tifton, Georgia at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Dr. Kota's efforts in his research to find a cure through https://www.fightlikemike.org/donate.

Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
