Linda Diane (Horton) Hatchell

December 12, 1947 — August 23, 2020

Tifton, Georgia

Linda Diane Hatchell, 72 of Tifton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at her residence.

The family will receive friends and family at Albritton Funeral Directors on Thursday evening, August 27th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. A private burial will be held at Sunrise Gardens of Memories in Powder Springs.

Linda was born December 12, 1947 in Atlanta, GA.  As owner and operator of the local taxi service Grab-a-Cab since 1978, Linda was loved and respected for her no-nonsense view of life. However, those who knew her best knew they could depend on her for her compassion as well as her wicked wit. Her heart and grit endeared her to many. What Linda loved best was spending time with her family whether it was visiting Margaritaville at Universal Studios; watching movies, especially Pirates of the Caribbean; or playing a good game of Scrabble or Yahtzee. Before the pandemic shut down travel, Linda had plans to take the family on a bucket list trip to Alaska. She also enjoyed fishing, especially at Fish Lake in Utah, gardening, and taking care of her numerous rescued animals. But dearest to her heart was her grandson Chance. Those who truly knew her loved her and were blessed to be a part of her life and will deeply miss her.

Linda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Toi and Ryan Freeman of Columbus; her grandson and fiancé Chance Walker and Summer Jones of Columbus; her brother and sister-in-law David and Kay Horton of Brunswick; her sister Carol Hamby of Marana, AZ.; her son-in-law Billy Travis of Cottonton, AL; her sister-in-law Marsha Horton of Brunswick; her cab family Mike Walker, David Golden, Sr., Katherine Cone, Sherrie Bishop, Donnie Sumner, and Ronald Smith, Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews: Mark Hamby, Rob Hamby, Kellie Mitchell, Kim Beck, Kandis Petersin, Peyton Kiluk, and Diana Carter.

She was preceded in death by her daughters Zeni Travis and Viki Lea Wilson, her parents David and Glorina Horton, her brother John Horton, and her partner Ken Shambaugh.

You were always there to help

no matter what life brought;

To laugh with us, to be proud of us,

and share all the happy things.

But even more importantly,

you were there when plans went wrong

to help us work things out

when disappointments came along.

And so, we want to thank you and

tell you lovingly -

You are one of the best things

life gave us, and the

ones who loved you the most

will miss you dearly.
