Mrs. Kathy Wingate Murphy, 74, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in her home peacefully.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 31, 2023 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Corey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Brandon Smith, William Hornback V., Will Murphy, Chad Murphy, Russ Murphy and Larry Hilliard will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Murphy was born December 17, 1948 in Colquitt County to the late Roscoe Wingate and Myrtice Gunn Wingate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery S. Murphy who died May 23, 2018, her grandson, Jeffery S. Murphy, Jr.,who died February 2, 1993 and her brother, Roscoe Wingate, Jr. Kathy was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Irwin County and was a 1967 graduate of Doerun High School. She attended Albany Tech for her nursing degree. She retired from Family Practice Associates in 2016 as an LPN. She was an LPN who had a passion for her patients for forty-eight years. The babies and the elderly were her heart. Kathy loved fresh water fishing, camping and shopping. She was an excellent cook and had a great sense of style.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by husband, Gary S. Murphy of Tifton; her daughter, Angela Murphy Hornback of Centerville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Amanda Murphy- Smith and her husband Brandon and Kathleen Murphy; two grandsons, Patrick S. Murphy and William Hornback V., and her great grandson, Caspian Grey Smith; her sister, Carol Wingate Hilliard and her husband Larry.
