September 5, 1969 — June 28, 2021

Tifton, Georgia

Mr. Jerry Lamar Greeson, 51, of Tifton passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Kevin Dawson officiating and a eulogy will be given by Spud Bowen. Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mike Moore, Terry Rowe, Spud Bowen, Dave Powell, Jake Norman, Zach Greeson, Nick Greeson and Heath Bass will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Greeson was born September 5, 1969 in Tifton to Harold Greeson and the late Betty Jean Pearson Greeson. Mr. Greeson had lived in Tifton all of his life and was a graduate of Tift County High School. Jerry received his Associate degree from ABAC in criminal justice. He was a supervisor with the Georgia Department of Agriculture in the beef and pork division.

In addition to his father, Mr. Greeson is survived by what he considered his two greatest accomplishments, his sons, Zach Greeson (2021 ABAC Graduate) and Nick Greeson (2021 Tift County High School Graduate); his sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and J. L. Bryant of Tifton. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Angie Dale Barber of Fitzgerald; his girlfriend, Amy McDonald of Tifton and his special friend, Spud Bowen of Tifton.

Jerry started his work career as a paper boy for the Tifton Gazette. Later he worked as a dispatcher and license examiner for the GSP before embarking on a successful career with the Ga Dept. of Agriculture. In his spare time Jerry worked as a football official for the GHSA and the Tift County Recreation Dept. His friendships with his fellow officials and high school football coaches across South Georgia were a huge part of his heart. FSU Football was a part of his life. He was a loyal fan and season ticket holder. Later in life he followed the FSU Ladies Softball team with the same intensity that he followed football. At the time of his death, he was the Leading Knight of the Tifton Elks Lodge.

To know Jerry Greeson was to love him. He set the example for all humans that your political affiliations and skin color should not matter as long as you could talk, discuss and have a margarita. His attitude and pranks with his Saturday morning breakfast group and his Saturday El Cazador group will be legendary. He will always be remembered for his kind gestures of friendship and love when you needed them the most and least expected them. Please join his friends in praying for the comfort of his family and in the confidence that we will see him again.

Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
