Mr. James Omar York, Jr., 72, of Enigma, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at his residence.
Military honors will be rendered at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 25, 2022 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 2:15 to 4:00 P. M. following the Military honors at the funeral home.
Mr. York was born March 4, 1950 in Albany, Georgia to the late James Omar York, Sr., and Melba Jean Young York Jordan (Elmore Jordan). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill York. He was a member of Enigma Community Church and was retired from Union Camp after thirty-three years. Mr. York was a veteran of the United States Army 82nd airborne. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, watching westerns and rocking his grandbabies. He was very much involved with Kairos prison ministry. He also enjoyed Auburn football and super Nintendo.
Mr. York is survived by his wife, Kim Hoyer York of Enigma; his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Chris Owens of Leesburg, Georgia; three sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Chelsea Mitchell of Longwood, Florida, Jay York (Morgan Fanning) of Warner Robbins and Sean York (Jami Davis) of Nashville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Iyden Mitchell, Bryn Mitchell, Emma York, Lainie Davis, Thomas York Owens and Abigail York; two sisters, Peggy Speaker of Poulan, Georgia and Jeanie Carter of Sylvester, Georgia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
