Hazel Vernell (Napier) Harris

Mrs. Hazel Vernell Napier Harris, 77, of Tifton, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. 

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Wells officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.  

Squire Brannon, Ryan McGriff, John Paul King, Dalton Hancock, Dallas Hancock and Matthew Kennedy, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Harris was born March 20, 1945 in Lake Wales, Florida to the late Louise Salter Edenfield and she was raised by her step-father, Franklin Edward Edenfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Austin Harris, her sons, Ronnie Junior Harris and James Edward Harris, her brothers, Ken Napier and James Wrentz Napier. Mrs. Harris worked for Tift County Board of Education in the Matt Wilson school cafeteria and helped her husband with the Harris Welding Company. She was of Baptist faith. Hazel enjoyed tending to her flowers in her yards, cooking, shopping and seeing about her cats. She was also a caregiver. 

Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughter, Sheila Harris of Savannah; her son Jeffery Allen Harris of Valdosta; her sister and brother-in-law, Faye and David Brannon of Tifton; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bo and Wanda Edenfield and Steve and Debbie Edenfield both of Tifton; she raised her granddaughter “Kimmy” Kimberly Stowe as her own; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
