Mrs. Frances Gordon Watkins, 90, of LaGrange formerly of Tifton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Florence Hand Home in LaGrange, Georgia.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2020, in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Ike Branch officiating. The interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family before the service from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Saturday morning.
Mrs. Watkins was born August 9, 1930, in Clayton County, Georgia, to the late Thomas Carlton Gordon and Laura Mae Smith. She spent most of her childhood in Tifton, where she attended local schools and graduated as Valedictorian from Tift County High School in 1947. Mrs. Watkins began her career as an operator with BellSouth/AT&T and eventually promoted to office manager. She retired with 38 years of service with BellSouth/AT&T. She enjoyed volunteering with various organizations. Mrs. Watkins loved playing the piano and organ for the senior choir and congregation at New River Baptist Church in Tifton. She served as a Pink Lady with the TRHS Auxiliary and with the Georgia Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Watkins of 22 years; sister, Anna Laura Gordon; and brothers, Thomas Carlton Gordon, Jr. and James Edgar Gordon.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Greg McEachern of LaGrange; two granddaughters, Brittany and Erick Holle of LaGrange and Laura and Kyle McCuen of Little Rock, Arkansas; and two great grandsons, Quin and Bo Holle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New River Baptist Church in Tifton or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
