Mr. Eddie Brooks Stout, Sr., 84, of Tifton, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Legacy Village of Tifton.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Greg Love officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Stout was born October 13, 1935 in Sutton, West Virginia to the late Wilson Stout and Allie Gay Wilson Stout. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Eddie “Chip” Stout, Jr., his sister, Elva Mae Carpenter, his brother Jay Wilson, his grandson Aaron Hahn and granddaughter Maggie Brooks Stout. Mr. Stout was a member of Cross View Baptist Church of Tifton. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany and was retired from General Motors Corporation after thirty years. Mr. Stout was a devoted Christian and loved his Lord and his church. He was a devoted family man his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. At Cross View Baptist Church, he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher of the Omega Sunday School Class. Mr. Eddie was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt. He enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, the Cleveland Browns and Indians and watching professional and college football.

Mr. Stout is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean Smith Stout of Tifton to whom he was married for sixty-one years; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Alex Hill of St. Augustine, Florida; one son, Douglas Stout of Tifton; five grandchildren, Angelia Stout, Audra Hill, Rachel and Brian Washington, Garrett Stout and his mother, Jennifer Stout and Shannon Brady. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express gratitude and thanks to Legacy Village and Homestead Palliative Care and Hospice for the special care given to Ed.
