David was born on July 27, 1942 in Bulloch County, Alabama to the late James Bryon Brannon and Edna Peebles Brannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Brannon and Larry Brannon and his sister, Mary Brannon.  David was a member of First Baptist Church of TyTy. He taught Senior Adult Sunday School for thirty-five years. After graduating high school from Broxton, Georgia, he joined the Navy, January 3, 1960 traveling the world during the Vietnam era. After the Navy he returned to Adel to help his Dad in the sawmill business until his death. David was a man of many ventures throughout his life. He graduated from Valdosta Technical school and attended Valdosta State College studying accounting. He was the owner of Brannon Lumber, Tifton Building Systems and Fayette Fasteners. David was two-time champion of Lake City Speedway in Lake City, Florida in dirt track racing. He lived to work when he was not working on old cars, mowing grass or watching westerns.  He never met a stranger and was generous to a fault. Quoting David, I married the love of my life in 1982.  David adored all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and taught them to pray.

David is survived by his wife, Faye Edenfield Brannon of Tifton; his children, Lisa and Buie Taylor of Adel, Jerri and Chuck Hancock of Adel, Squire and Lea Brannon of Locust Grove, Allison and Ryan McGriff of Locust Grove and Tripp and Sharon Harrison of Hampton; his sisters, Christine McLean of Broxton and Nell Brewington of Adel; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
