Brenda Joyce (Hayes) Griffin

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Hayes Griffin, 73, of Tifton, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at her residence.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM in Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 PM before the service at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Donnie Revels, Dan Jackson, Roger Usry, Corey Young, Daniel LaBranche and Lance Courtoy will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Griffin was born June 17, 1946 in Tift County to the late John Austin Hayes, Sr., and Juanita Stone Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Trey Roberts, her brother Johnny Hayes and brother-in-law Lamar Sheppard. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Griffin graduated in 1964 from Tifton High School and was retired after thirty-one years from the Tift County Board of Education where she worked as a paraprofessional at Charles Spencer Elementary School then later at G. O. Bailey Elementary School. She was very active in her church where she served as the church clerk, Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school. Mrs. Griffin loved her Lord and her family. She loved her Facebook Friends, going to Walmart and playing “Phase 10”, a card game she played with her family.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband Jesse Daniel “J.D.” Griffin to whom she was married for fifty-one years ; her son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Laura Griffin of Graham, North Carolina; her daughter Joy Griffin Courtoy of Tifton; grandchildren Carly Courtoy and Shane Courtoy; her sister Mary Lee Hayes Sheppard of Tifton; her brother Sidney Hayes of Spanaway, Washington. She leaves behind to cherish her memory nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge Hospice of Tift Area for their compassionate care during Miss Brenda’s illness.
