Barbara Ann (Thompson) Bondari

Mrs. Barbara Ann Thompson Bondari, 75, of Tifton, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at her residence.

A private service will be held Monday, May 4, 2020 in the courtyard of Tifton’s First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jarred Hammet officiating. Mrs. Bondari will be interred at Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Lake Mills, Iowa where she was a member.

Mrs. Bondari was born August 10, 1944 in Mason City, Iowa and was the daughter of Lester and Opal Nappe Thompson, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Dr. Khorsand “Kaine” Bondari who died January 28, 2016. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University, she taught English as a foreign language in a German Junior High School in Delmenhorst, Germany for one year. She also taught German and math and was an elementary librarian at the Tehran American School in Tehran, Iran where she lived for four years. She received her Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Bondari was the school librarian for twenty-seven years at Northeast Campus TCHS (formerly Tift County Junior High School) in Tifton, Georgia. She attended the All Welcome Lutheran Service at Tifton’s First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Bondari enjoyed reading, crocheting afghans, making beaded Christmas ornaments, researching her Norwegian ancestry, and doing water aerobics at the Y. Her favorite flowers were yellow roses.

Mrs. Bondari is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Bradley Bondari of Tifton and Brian and Katrina Bondari of San Antonio, Texas ; her grandchildren, Lawrence Bondari, Emma Bondari and Eva Bondari all of San Antonio, Texas; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Patricia Thompson of Lake Mills, Iowa, LeRoy and Elda Thompson of Morton, Illinois and Mark and Victoria Thompson of Lake Mills, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
