Elizabeth Lorena Powers Griffin, 85, of Tifton passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at 3:00p.m. in Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating.
Mrs. Griffin was born October 7, 1932 in Wilcox County to the late Ambers James Powers and Bertha Lorena Johns Powers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Donald Griffin who died February, 2014. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Griffin was formerly of the Gladys and Lax communities where she spent most of her life. She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church in Irwin County. Mrs. Griffin was retired from Department of Family and Children’s Services in Berrien County where she was a social worker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family and was a devoted Christian. She was an avid reader and liked to sew in her younger days.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Gary Lee and Leighann Griffin of Broxton and Keith and Peggy Griffin of Lax Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Dwight Wallace of Paragould, Ark., and Connie and Jimmy Nolan of Fitzgerald; seven grandchildren, Hannah and Brian Wright, Aldonna Griffin, Kelly and Ricky Barrett, Jason Bennett, Miranda and Scottie Denton, Mindy and Gilbert Borden and Brittany Nolan; ten great grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, James Powers of Wilcox County, Wayne and Candy Powers of Swainsboro, Ga.,; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Alec Newsome of Cordele, Jean and Tommy Sheridan of Centerville.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Linda Chaney, Pat Connell, Millie Baden and Debra Baker for their loving and excellent care.
