Betty Sue Parker Evans, 89, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11th at 2:00pm in Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Interment to follow in Oakridge cemetery with Rev. Landon Alberson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45pm before the service at the funeral home.
Keith Hibbs, Michael Evans, Patrick Spence, Jerry Rutland, Chuck Goins and Stacy Aultman will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Evans was born on October 17, 1928 in Tift County to the late Cecil A. Parker and Cecelia Funderburke Parker. She was married to Dewey F. “Jack” Evans for seventy years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Murray; one brother, George “Joe” Parker and one great grandson, Trey Scott. She had lived all of her life in Tifton. She graduated from Tifton High School and later attended ABAC and Valdosta State. She was a substitute teacher in Tift County for several years and later began her career at Sears in Tifton where she retired. Her family was the center of her life and she was a wonderful cook. She was artistic drawing in chalks and pencil, a poet and a talented singer. Until health interfered, she loved to walk. She was a selfless loving wife, mother, grandmother and a Godly woman. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful laugh.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Evans is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Evans of Tifton and Kathy Evans of Ft. Worth, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Melanie Evans of Montgomery, Ala; three grandchildren, Amy and Keith Hibbs, Michael and Nicole Evans, Heather and Patrick Spence; two great grandchildren, Evan Spence and Tristan Spence; one brother, Charles Parker of Tifton and one sister-in-law, Judy Parker of Gwinnett County. Many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Tiftarea for their wonderful staff and Certified Nurse Assistants, employees of Rescare Home Care workers and her personal caregivers. Also, a special thank you to the many ministries of First Baptist Church of Tifton.
